Hedgelaying at Denford

Hedgelaying at Denford

This hedge between two grass fields had been flattened back by a digger to allow the erection of a fence sometime in the preceding years. It was also tangled with years of discarded agricultural rubbish – sheets of corrugated metal etc. This made it tough work to clear prior to laying down the pleachers (the tall stems). Once laid down the hazel stakes are knocked in as seen in this photograph before being bound.
